Anti-Tip CO2 Stand
beer co2 carbon dioxide stand

Compressed CO2 can be very dangerous. The tanks have a very small footprint, and with the regulator and hoses hanging off the top, they could be very unstable. If a tank falls over, and breaks the valve or regulator in a way that it allows all the CO2 to escape rapidly, it could literally turn the CO2 tank into a rocket. Another issue is that CO2, in sufficient quantities, can be deadly. So a quick leak in a small area could be dangerous.

For my home kegerator, I bungee my CO2 tank to a nearby drain pipe to keep it upright. However, if I took my beer and a 5lb tank to a picnic or party, I didn't have a reliable way to make sure it didn't get kicked over.

I did some thinking and realized that I didn't even have to build anything. I had everything I needed packed away in the attic. It is simply an inexpensive, plastic Christmas tree stand. It works great for 5 lb tanks, but I haven't tried it with anything larger yet.

At some point, I have to get around to cleaning the old sap off of it.
