Hydrometer Temperature Corrections

Hydrometers are only accurate at 60º F. If the temperature of the wort is not exactly 60º F, adjustments will need to be made to get an accurate hydrometer reading. Use the chart below to determine what adjustment is necessary. For example, if the temperature of the wort is 77º F and the original gravity is 1.053, add 2 to get an accurate original gravity reading and the actual original gravity of the wort is 1.055.
