February 2022 Lehigh Valley Homebrewers Newsletter

Updated: Feb 22, 2022

Greetings Brewers!

This month we'll be headed to another new venue for our club, Retriever Brewing in Orefield!

Many of you have asked about membership renewals and the officers and club board have been discussing what the correct amount for dues should be as we had a small financial shortfall last year. We'll share a summary of the proposed budget and ask the members to vote on dues at the February meeting. Please attend and make your voice heard.

We've recently received a small donation of brewery cleanser from Exchilerator, (no, that's not a Doppelbock), so be sure to check out the raffle prize table at upcoming meetings. Their brewery cleanser was developed in collaboration with Lehigh Valley Homebrewer, Rick Theiner, founder of Logic, Inc. so I expect it to live up to the hype! Check out their innovative brewing products at their website.

PSU Berks reached out the club to share information about a brewing curriculum they are developing. If you are interested, check it out here. They have a series of upcoming free webinars to raise interest in the program:

  • Feb 23rd - The Tasting Room Experience - Learn about the critical aspects of designing and running a tasting room. Register here.

  • March 10th - Building a Brewery: Site Selection, Permits and Licenses - Presented by Attorney Theodore J. Zeller

  • March 11th - Building a Brewery: The Legal Aspects of Distribution - Presented by Attorney Theodore J. Zeller

I'd like to thank everyone who participated in Fegley's Brewfest, especially those that helped with the set up and tear down. Fegley's was a fantastic host as usual and their brewfest did not disappoint! I'd also like to give thanks to Yergey Brewing for hosting us last month. I hope to see everyone at Retriever on Tuesday.

Future Meetings:

Meetings are open to anyone (21 and older) who home brews (beer, wine, cider, mead) or is interested in learning about home brewing.  Our club has over 30 certified judges and several members who have "gone pro" by opening their own brewery, meadery, or distillery! - So bring your latest craft creation and get some constructive feedback and/or accolades!
