December 2025 Lehigh Valley Homebrewers Newsletter

ree

Greetings Brewers,

While we don't have a meeting this month there are several meetups where you'll have an opportunity to hang out and chat about brewing. There are also several events with RSVP due dates before the holidays, so check the Events page, or look for bold in this newsletter!

Congratulations to Ginger Volz and Griffin Weaver, our new club Secretary and Treasurer for 2026! Thank you again to Melody and Kyle Stout for their service in this role, and best of luck to them at Space Time Mead and Cider Works.

We will be at Weyerbacher Brewing in Easton on Thursday December 11 at 6pm to celebrate the release of Joe Eberhardt's Pro-Am collaboration beer, a Kentucky Common awarded at CRAFTED! Weyerbacher will have a food truck on site from 4:30-8:30 and trivia running from 6-8pm, so come any time! Please RSVP so we can give them an estimated headcount.

The following week, Curt offered to host a meetup and commercial beer share for the club at Hijinx Brewing in Allentown on Tuesday, December 16th from 7-10pm. If you haven't heard, unfortunately Hijinx announced this week that they will be closing the taproom 12/20 and ending brewery operations 12/30. Dust off a bottle of something you've been waiting to share and come join us to send Curt out with a bang. He and Hijinx have been integral parts of the club for years and have always been willing to lend us their support!

Registration is open for the BJCP judge training! Please RSVP by December 20th so we can order materials and plan appropriately. We will be meeting weekly at Sage Alley on Thursdays (7-9pm) from January 22nd until February 26th. A reminder that the exam date is February 28, 2026. If you're looking to become a judge, our new provisional judges, Rob, Dennis, and Griffin will be happy to help you pass the online entrance exam.

We've confirmed the club holiday party at Strange Brew Tavern on January 6th from 7-10pm (you may arrive anytime after 6:30pm). Cost is $20 per person whether you will be eating or not. You must RSVP by January 2, 2026 for this event.

Gallows Hill has unfortunately also announced this week that they will be ending operations and closing December 28th. Bob has generously hosted many club events over the years, meetings every October, bottle sorts and storage for Malt Madness, and judging sessions. We wish him the best in his future endeavors and I encourage you to stop by for one final cocktail before the end of the month!

Finally, the usual reminder that we've been looking for an alternative with a low barrier to entry for notifying those interested in news, festival opportunities, or event reminders, etc. outside of the monthly newsletter cycle. To this end, we've created the "LVHB News" Google Group. If you're interested, you should be able to search for lvhb-news@googlegroups.com in the Google Groups search and request to join.

See you Tuesday,

Steve Anthony

LVHB Club President
