June 2024 Lehigh Valley Homebrewers Newsletter

Greetings Brewers,

Our meeting this month will be on Tuesday June 25th, at Wishful Thinking Brewing Co. in Bethlehem. They're closed to the public on Tuesdays, but have been gracious enough to fire up their pizza oven for us, so come hungry! Come learn about their Lukr draft system and passion for Czech style pours.

The Gade's have offered to run a summer picnic for the club, Saturday June 29th. Please register on the Events page by June 25th, so they can plan food; bring a side dish and homebrew to share!

Thanks to everyone who brewed or came out to serve beer at the Kreidersville Covered Bridge festival, we raised over $1100 in donations across both days, and will be splitting the proceeds with covered bridge preservation group. That was a busy weekend, with the Keystone Barrel Brew Judgement Day falling that Saturday as well. Congratulations to John Jessen, who took first place!

The next HBoTY event is in July! Submit a Belgian Blonde 25A or Munich Helles 4A (bonus points). We will be collecting entries at the July meeting, as there is no local homebrew competition that month where they can be judged. Those of you who submitted for June, please bring or email us a copy of your War of the Worts scoresheet this month so you can get credit!

Do you need a tasting cup that will be hard to lose, and harder to break? Rob put together an order for 8oz stainless steel carabiner cups, emblazoned with the club logo! These will be available at the June meeting for $10/ea.

Finally, the usual reminder that we've been looking for an alternative with a low barrier to entry for notifying those interested in news, festival opportunities, or event reminders, etc. outside of the monthly newsletter cycle. To this end, we've created the "LVHB News" Google Group. If you're interested, you should be able to search for lvhb-news@googlegroups.com in the Google Groups search and request to join.

See you Tuesday,

Steve Anthony

LVHb Club President

Future Meetings:

Meetings are open to anyone (21 and older) who home brews (beer, wine, cider, mead) or is interested in learning about home brewing.  Our club has over 30 certified judges and several members who have "gone pro" by opening their own brewery, meadery, or distillery! - So bring your latest craft creation and get some constructive feedback and/or accolades!
