Greetings Brewers,
Our meeting this month will be on Tuesday, August 25th, at Fegley's Bethlehem Brew Works in Bethlehem, PA. It's been quite a while since we've been downstairs in the Steelgaarden! They are open to the public on Tuesday so stop by early to grab something to eat. Our meeting, as usual, will start at 7:30PM.
If you brewed a lager for The Great Allentown Fair, and are interested in being considered for a Pro-Am brewing opportunity at Fegley's, bring a bottle or can to the meeting. We'll be leaving them for Josh Bushey to taste and select a winner.
Unfortunately, 3rd & Ferry has cancelled their Hombrew Competition at Clam Jam on August 30th this year due to insufficient participation. They hope to bring this event back at next year's festival, so if you'd like to see it continue, add that to your calendar now. If you're looking for something to do Sunday, Clam Jam is still a great time, or feel free to stop by LV Pride at the Steel Stacks to help the club serve beer.
Keystone Homebrew Supply is once again hosting their Club Barrel Brew Day on Saturday, September 12th. Register on the events page if you're interesting in coming out to the shop to brew. This year's recipe is a Wheatwine, so if you haven't brewed that before it's a great opportunity to come get some experience. Thanks to Griffin Weaver for leading that recipe development and coordinating that event.
Brew at the Zoo will be held again on September 12th as well from 11-5pm. Come out to the Lehigh Valley Zoo in Schnecksville, PA for an opportunity to serve your beer to the public. Register on the events page if you're interested. Thanks to Ginger Volz for running this event, see her or one of the officers if you have any questions!
Add Saturday October 10th to your festival calendar as well, where the club is planning to serve at a Oktoberfest charity event at Coplay Saengerbund from 4-7pm. This event will be raising money for Alzheimer's research through the Lehigh Valley Walk to End Alzheimer's. Register on the events page is you're available.
Given all these festivals, are you RAMP certified? The Responsible Alcohol Management Program Server/Seller training is being offered through the club again this year on Saturday November 14. If your certification will be expiring this year, or if you'd like to become certified, sign up now as seats are limited. A reminder that some festivals, eg. Arts Quest Steelstacks Beer Fest, require that you be RAMP certified to participate.
Finally, the usual reminder that we've been looking for an alternative with a low barrier to entry for notifying those interested in news, festival opportunities, or event reminders, etc. outside of the monthly newsletter cycle. To this end, we've created the "LVHB News" Google Group. If you're interested, you should be able to search for lvhb-news@googlegroups.com in the Google Groups search and request to join.

Meetings are open to anyone (21 and older) who home brews (beer, wine, cider, mead) or is interested in learning about home brewing. Our club has over 30 certified judges and several members who have "gone pro" by opening their own brewery, meadery, or distillery! - So bring your latest craft creation and get some constructive feedback and/or accolades!

Congratulations to Griffin Weaver, whose New Zealand Pilsner and American Pale Ale both took 3rd place on their respective table at Monk Melee! Griffn's Cream Ale with hibiscus and cinnamon also received an Honorable Mention on its table!
