Happy Holidays Brewers,
A couple quick pieces of business: We created a new event for the Holiday Party with final details in order to get a correct headcount. Please RSVP so we can provide a final headcount by this Friday. Strange Brew will be providing a dinner buffet at $18pp (including tip, tax, and raffle ticket). You can bring homebrew. You can bring desserts. You can enjoy their fantastic beer selection. Bring a spouse, friend, designated driver. Don't miss it! We will collect payments that night and will have the best raffle selection of the year! We also have t-shirts on hand, so if you ordered shirts, we will collect for those as well ($15 per shirt). Seriously, please RSVP.
On with the rest of the newsletter!
As you are RSVP'ing for the Holiday Party, you'll see two beer festivals on the upcoming event page as well. Both should be a great time, make sure you have your brew schedules worked out so you have a keg to share with the thirsty, unique beer craving, Don't Stop Believin'-singing, photo-bombing, beerfest party crowds! Think of this as community outreach for the club - show these craft beer connoisseurs what can be done in your kitchen or garage!
We have one competition left in the Homebrewer of the Year competition. This is a label competition and you simply need to post your label in the forum. You can enter up to 3 labels. If you haven't looked at the entries yet, you are missing out! There will be a special gift card prize for the winner of this competition, independent of the total points competition. We'll announce the overall HBoTY winner at the January meeting.
I'd like to thank Hijinx Brewing for hosting us last month, and a special thanks to Curt for sharing some special brews with us. At the meeting, we elected a new slate of officers for 2023 and I'd like to formally introduce them now:
President: Steve Anthony
Vice President: Rob Myers
Treasurer: Harleigh Wilmott
Secretary: Edward Ponikvar
The new officers certainly have my vote of confidence, and the club will be in good hands. The current officers aren't going anywhere, but it was time for a change in order to take the club to the next level. As I look up at the Strange Brew logo, it does indeed remind me of what a long strange trip it's been. I've been an officer for 5 years and I always enjoyed serving the club because of the sense of community and camaraderie this hobby creates. I really appreciate how getting involved in the club has led me to meet new people and form new friendships that I would have missed out on if not for homebrewing. The other officers and I want to thank you for your feedback, collaboration, and support. We hope you had as much fun as we did!
Brew on!
John Litak
LVHb Club President
Future Meetings:
Meetings are open to anyone (21 and older) who home brews (beer, wine, cider, mead) or is interested in learning about home brewing. Our club has over 30 certified judges and several members who have "gone pro" by opening their own brewery, meadery, or distillery! - So bring your latest craft creation and get some constructive feedback and/or accolades!
