May 2022 Lehigh Valley Homebrewers Newsletter

Happy Memorial Day!

I hope everyone is taking advantage of the long weekend to brew some tasty beverages! We certainly have plenty of events coming up, including Malt Madness our annual club run BJCP competition. Our monthly meeting will be this Tuesday at Rising River Brewing.

Homebrew Con is right around the corner and we've settled in on a booth theme - Lehigh Valley Sports. If you are going to Homebrew Con, please make sure you have RSVP'd because we'll be reaching out to collect additional information to manage travel plans, kegs for Club Night, contact information, etc. Post questions in the forum!

We had great participation and attendance at Big Brew! We had 17 brewers participate which is the biggest big brew in recent history. Yergey Brewing packaged over 2 bbls of "Golden Resolve" and quickly sold half of that beer in the first weekend. It currently has a 4.33 rating on Untappd too! If you haven't had a chance to get out to Yergey to try it, hurry up, it might not last too much longer. If you would like to add on a donation to the selected charity, Global Empowerment Mission, you can donate via their website. I'd like to offer a special thanks to everyone at Yergey Brewing for making a "crazy idea" turn into such a successful endeavor!

Please sign up for the Covered Bridge Festival - a fun local festival where we can serve our homebrew to the public. We'll also be judging the first round of HBoTY at that event, so please bring your entries (or drop them off at the May meeting). You don't need to enter a full keg to be part of HBoTY judging, two bottles/cans will be plenty. The competition details can be found on the HBoTY. Finally, in addition to the the club pallet buy, we're working out a deal with the Lehigh Valley Brewers Guild to purchase cans at roughly 40-50% off of list pricing. Speak to a club officer if you are interested.

Brew on!
