January 2022 Lehigh Valley Homebrewers Newsletter

Greetings Brewers!

Our next meeting is at Yergey Brewing in Emmaus. I hope to sample all the wonderful brews our talented brewers conjured up during the holiday season!

Membership renewals will be opening up soon, watch your email for the renewal link and annual membership survey. One key aspect of the survey will be your feedback on the HBoTY competition last year. Based on your feedback, we will either continue that format or change to something else. Regardless of overall format, we'll be asking for suggestions for the brewing challenges you want to see this year. What are the styles, techniques, or ingredients you would like to see featured this year? Overall, we had 27 club members that participated in brewing challenges throughout the year which is a large improvement over prior formats which ultimately was the goal of the change. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Speaking of HBoTY, I do want to congratulate our overall winner, Ryan Celia! In addition to the brewing collaboration with 14th Fret, we had a custom pair of tap handles created to memorialize his achievement. Ryan will receive one of the tap handles as a trophy and the other will become part of the club Jockey Box - so anytime Ryan is serving at a club event, we'll mark his beer with the custom tap.

But Ryan isn't the only winner! We have gift cards for anyone winning 1st Place on any of the individual competitions and we have gift bags for everyone who entered at least one of the competitions. If you didn't pick yours up at the holiday party, please look for it at the next meeting!

I have to be honest, I'm pretty excited about our hobby in 2022. Expect more public serving opportunities (starting with Fegley's at the end of the month!), more brewing challenges, more club purchasing discounts (watch for our next pallet buy), and Homebrew Con is in our home state (Pittsburgh)! Now would be a good time to join the AHA in preparation for Homebrew Con - see the link at the end of the newsletter. See you on Tuesday!
