Greetings Brewers,
A reminder that our meeting will be on Tuesday, October 28th, at Gallows Hill Spirits in Allentown, PA. Grab something to eat before you arrive, as usual the meeting starts a 7:30PM.
Do you know someone who's been thinking about starting to brew? Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day is right around the corner, this year we'll be back brewing at Chris Becker's home in Northampton. Note that we're celebrating on November 8th, not November 1st. Come out and either brew the Imperial Stout recipe to go into an ex-bourbon barrel (and get back the beer after aging), brew another recipe that you've had your eye on, or just come hang out.
Club elections will be happening next month, so if you're interested in being an officer, or know someone who is, nominations will happen at the October and November meetings before voting.
Thanks to everyone who came out to the Brewer's Village Beer Fest at Steelstacks this month! I had a great time popping in to collect beer to serve at The National Museum of Industrial History that evening during their Iron Pour event, and several attendees were having fun telling me which beers not to take. We'll be back at the museum for First Friday again this month, so if you have cans/bottles/a half growler to donate or can serve, sign up on the events page.
Mike Biedler's Pro-Am collaboration beer "Not Hot", a jalapeño cream ale awarded at CRAFTED!, was released at Hijinx Brewing this week! If you couldn't make it out for the release meetup, make sure you get out there to try it. As the name suggests, it is not spicy for those of you who may balk at jalapeño. Didn't know there was a release meetup? Join the Google Group (see the note at the end of the newsletter)!
If you're looking to become BJCP certified, we pushed out exam date back, from November to February 28, 2026. Watch the website and Google Group for info on registering. If you're looking to become a judge, our new provisional judges, Rob, Dennis, and Griffin will be happy to help you pass the online entrance exam.
Finally, the usual reminder that we've been looking for an alternative with a low barrier to entry for notifying those interested in news, festival opportunities, or event reminders, etc. outside of the monthly newsletter cycle. To this end, we've created the "LVHB News" Google Group. If you're interested, you should be able to search for lvhb-news@googlegroups.com in the Google Groups search and request to join.
See you Tuesday,
Steve Anthony
LVHB Club President
