March 2026 Lehigh Valley Homebrewers Newsletter

Updated: Mar 21

Greetings Brewers,

Our meeting this month will be a week early on Tuesday, March 24th, at the Taylor House Brewing in Catasauqua, PA. Our meeting, as usual will start at 7:30PM. There's no food available at the venue this month, so make sure to eat something before showing up.

In order for the club to receive and exemption for PA state sales tax as a non-profit, we need to supply an updated version of our bylaws. Please review them here prior to the meeting, where we will be voting on whether or not to adopt this document.

Dues! The officers and board of directors met in January and have decided to set dues for new and existing members at $35 for 2026. The first updated membership roster has gone out to our local homebrew supply shops, so if you have not renewed yet, please do so now! We've ordered reusable name tags for members to wear at the meetings, but you also need to renew to get one. You can renew online or pay in person at the meeting.

Malt Madness XX and CRAFTED are rapidly approaching! This WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25th is the registration deadline, so get in any final entries now! A reminder that Malt Madness is scheduled for April 25, 2026 so add that to your calendars. A reminder to our BJCP certified judges to sign up to help judge as well! If you're otherwise available to help with the planning or execution see Dan Miller early, before he comes looking for you.

Speaking of Malt Madness, the bottle sort is coming up Sunday, March 29th at Yergey Brewing. This is very much a case of many hands make light work, so please RSVP and join us if you're available! We also have a need for beer cases, if you are able to help stop by any beer distributors, supermarkets, or other sources to acquire these please let us know!

Not planning on serving at the Arts Quest Spring Beerfest on March 28th? Consider buying a ticket and joining as an attendee! Enjoy all the fun and none of the work, this festival is always a great time, with the area brewers in attendance. Likewise, Keystone Homebrew Supply will be at the "A New Pour" festival on April 19th in Philly, so grab a ticket here if you're interesting in attending that festival as well!

Josh Bushey at Fegley's Brew Works reached out and asked us to pass along their Assistant Brewer job posting. The primary job focus and function will be cleaning draft lines, kegs, and making deliveries. The Assistant Brewer will also be expected to train to competence in all major brewery operations – CIP, basic brewday tasks, packaging, etc. This is a unique ground-floor position well-suited to a person looking to make the leap into professional brewing.

Melody Stout at Spacetime Mead & Cider Works also reached out asking us to let the club know they are looking for a events person and bartender. If mead is more your thing, or you just love interacting with people, reach out to Melody or let us know you're interested and we'll put you in contact with her!

Finally, the usual reminder that we've been looking for an alternative with a low barrier to entry for notifying those interested in news, festival opportunities, or event reminders, etc. outside of the monthly newsletter cycle. To this end, we've created the "LVHB News" Google Group. If you're interested, you should be able to search for lvhb-news@googlegroups.com in the Google Groups search and request to join.

See you Tuesday,

Steve Anthony

LVHB Club President
