Greetings Brewers,
Our meeting this month will be on Tuesday September 24th, at Triple Sun Distilling/Weyerbacher Taproom in Emmaus. They're closed to the public on Tuesdays so make sure to grab something to eat before the meeting.
Malt Madness is this Saturday, September 14th! We're hosting a Clubs Collide event at 3pm at Retriever Brewing during the best of show judging, leading into the awards ceremony, so come hang out with members from the area clubs, have a beer, and find out who the big winners are!
There are two opportunities to pour your beer for the public coming up! The Blue Collar Scholarship Truck Show on September 28 and the Brewer's Village at Steelstacks on October 13! See the events page to sign up, the Brewer's VIllage event features People's Choice prizes provided by Arts Quest, and both are a great opportunity for public outreach.
For those of you participating in the August HBoTY event, please send me or bring a copy of your Malt Madness scoresheet to the September meeting, so you get credit.
The Malt Madness judge gift this year is a great T-shirt in assorted colors. Not a judge, but want one anyway? They'll be for sale at the meeting for general members at $15/ea. Get your while they last!
Thanks to John Jessen for leading the club barrel brew at Keystone and to everyone who stopped by to chat. The Baltic Porter is fermenting away, and we look forward to tasting that in a few months. Thanks as well to Keystone for hosting us, it was a great opportunity to meet up and brew and sample homebrew!
Thanks to John Litak and John Jessen for coming out to the Great Allentown Fair and joining me on the culinary stage to talk about "The Art and Science of Homebrewing". The event was well attended and the audience loved the homebrew samples (thanks to Rob Myers for helping distribute those)!
Do you need a tasting cup that will be hard to lose, and harder to break? Rob put together an order for 8oz stainless steel carabiner cups, emblazoned with the club logo! These will be available at the August meeting for $10/ea.
Finally, the usual reminder that we've been looking for an alternative with a low barrier to entry for notifying those interested in news, festival opportunities, or event reminders, etc. outside of the monthly newsletter cycle. To this end, we've created the "LVHB News" Google Group. If you're interested, you should be able to search for lvhb-news@googlegroups.com in the Google Groups search and request to join.
See you Tuesday,
Steve Anthony
LVHb Club President
