May 2025 Lehigh Valley Homebrewers Newsletter

Greetings Brewers,

A reminder that our meeting will be on Tuesday, May 27th, at The Wooden Match in Bethlehem, PA. We will be outside, pending weather, with their basement space as a backup. They're open to the public that day, so food will be available from their kitchen. As usual, the meeting starts at 7:30PM.

Thank you to everyone who helped make Malt Madness and CRAFTED a huge success! The new format allowed us to more than double our net profits, and contribute $750 to local non-profits. Make sure to check out the "Our Brewers Are Awesome" section below for more photos and a list of all the awards earned by club members!

Thanks to everyone who came out for Big Brew as well, in support of the Jess Fin Foundation for brain tumor research. Watch the events page for a meetup when it's released.

Recently, concerns were raised with the officers about interactions at club events. I'd like to take the opportunity to reiterate that it is priority of the club to ensure that members feel comfortable and supported, as outlined in our Code of Conduct. It is the expectation that all members adhere to the principles set out in that document, and when willing, point out to individuals that they are either acting at odds with of those principles, or close to crossing the line. If you are subject to any interaction which you feel violates the Code of Conduct and are not comfortable addressing it personally, you can report the event to the officers and board of directors using the form linked from the Code of Conduct page above, or raise it with club leadership directly and we will address it in consultation with you on your behalf.

Finally, the usual reminder that we've been looking for an alternative with a low barrier to entry for notifying those interested in news, festival opportunities, or event reminders, etc. outside of the monthly newsletter cycle. To this end, we've created the "LVHB News" Google Group. If you're interested, you should be able to search for lvhb-news@googlegroups.com in the Google Groups search and request to join.

See you Tuesday,

Steve Anthony

LVHB Club President

Future Meetings:

Meetings are open to anyone (21 and older) who home brews (beer, wine, cider, mead) or is interested in learning about home brewing.  Our club has over 30 certified judges and several members who have "gone pro" by opening their own brewery, meadery, or distillery! - So bring your latest craft creation and get some constructive feedback and/or accolades!

UPCOMING CLUB EVENTS

We received a last minute request to serve beer at the Neighbors in Need event at Country Club this Sunday, in support of the residents and four businesses displaced by the fire at 510 Flats in South Bethlehem. Feel free to stop by and show your support!
